Are you looking for a new and exciting way to learn Colored Pencil?

We are excited to introduce our new workshop series, "No Strokes Left Behind".

This series dives deeper into portraiture, incorporating narrative figures for subjects.

This workshop is perfect if you're new to colored pencils or to drawing portraits. We always start with less complex techniques and then gradually work towards more and more challenging aspects of the artwork. I don't leave you in the dust, but I take the time to ensure you are supported and have what you need to succeed!

In our August workshop, we're depicting a soft, muted atmosphere with "Sunset Cowgirl."

In this workshop, you'll learn the following:
  • How to start your drawing from a reference photo to a line drawing
  • How to use Oil-Based colored pencils in the initial laydown for the grisaille
  • How to use a limited palette and still depict details and realism in areas that matter
  • How to render using three-dimensional shading to show depth
  • How to use color complements and contrasts to guide the viewer's experience
  • How to create warm skin tones
  • Best ways to draw on Pastelmat using dry brush blending and other simple techniques to make you successful
  • How to problem solve mistakes and missteps

A good substitute for this workshop's Pastelmat paper (Pastelmat by Clairefontaine) is UART 800 sanded paper or LuxArchival sanded paper.

The course is now open for purchase until all 25 seats are filled.
In this new series, you will learn how to draw a completed art piece over five weeks.

Our live class times will be taught on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Eastern Time.

The first 2-hour class meets on Aug 3rd and the last class will be on Sept 7th.

If you miss a class, each one is recorded and available the same day within a couple of hours, with lifetime access. :)

In this workshop, you will sharpen your skills in rendering a soft focus with strong attention to detail in areas that capture the viewer's attention.

Delaney, our cowgirl model, exudes a reserved and contemplative demeanor in this composition.

The reference photos for this workshop will be available and ready to download on Monday, July 17th.

This is a fun, hands-on workshop that has lots of drawing time over six weeks. You'll enjoy the slow, methodical drawing process as well as the comradery of fellow artists and friends. You have the opportunity to ask your questions, receive real-time live critiques of your work and even connect with other artists from around the world.

We'll go over every aspect of creating a realistic portrait, including how to draw hair, and this beautiful sun lit braid, create dreamy skin tones, and the thought process for selecting colors and pencils that work well together!

We'll also cover everything you need to know about the planning stages before you start-- setting up for success before even picking up a pencil!

By the end of this workshop, you'll take what you learn and apply it to your portraits to create amazing artwork!
